Boris Zbikowski, Ceramic Artist

I create large, sculptural vessels made from stoneware clay—forms that grow slowly through the traditional rhythm of coil-building. This technique demands patience, presence, and a willingness to let the piece evolve at its own pace.

My glaze work is experimental and intuitive. I mix my own recipes and often leave areas unglazed, revealing the raw clay so it can share the stage with the finished surface. That tension and harmony between the two materials defines much of my aesthetic.

Guided by my background in Interior Design and Set Design, I design each piece with its destination in mind. I think about the architecture it will converse with, the light it will catch, the atmosphere it will help create.

Nature’s forms, cinematic moments, and architectural structures all influence my work. I translate these inspirations into vessels that are as much objects of presence as they are pieces of craft.
